Tommy Lasorda hitting lecture

March 28, 2010

Tommy Lasorda has spent the spring passing on knowledge to Dodgers minor leaguers. He doesn't speak in sentences that are fit for a family environment, but he's one of the funniest guys around.

In the clip to the right, Lasorda instructs Kyle Russell on how to hit the ball hard. Russell, who only totaled 72 extra-base hits last season, listened attentively and went on to hit three cars in the parking lot during his next round of batting practice.

Lasorda went on to give three more players the same lecture. One of them was unable to hit a line drive or even a weak fly ball following Lasorda's advice. The player then walked out of the cage...dejected.

The players and coaches appeared to tolerate Lasorda more than worship him, and he's far from fan-friendly. But there aren't many better entertainers in the game than Tommy Lasorda, even at 82 years of age.
